These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of trycairn.app and the Cairn browser extension (collectively, the “Service”) operated by Cairn (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
Cairn is a proof-of-ownership service that allows you to anchor a cryptographic hash of a file to the Base blockchain. We provide a browser extension for anchoring files, a web interface for viewing proof records, and a credit-based system for purchasing anchors.
Anchoring a file creates a permanent, publicly visible record on the Base blockchain containing your wallet address, the file's hash, and a timestamp. This record cannot be altered or deleted.
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement.
You authenticate using a blockchain wallet via Privy. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your wallet. We are not responsible for any loss resulting from unauthorised access to your wallet.
You agree not to use the Service to:
The Cairn name, logo, and web application are our intellectual property. The browser extension source may be made available under a separate open source licence — refer to the extension's repository for details.
You retain all ownership of the files you anchor. Anchoring a file does not transfer any rights to us.
You understand and acknowledge that:
We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend or discontinue the Service at any time. If we discontinue the Service, we will provide reasonable notice and offer refunds for unconsumed credits where practicable. Your on-chain proof records will remain accessible on the blockchain regardless of the Service's availability.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR THAT ANY PARTICULAR FILE ANCHOR WILL BE SUCCESSFULLY SUBMITTED TO THE BLOCKCHAIN.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms with a revised date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
